Pygmalion’ Love

Shen Gong

Those who have been to Q City will without exception be fascinated by the lady of a ceramic statue, which will be always thought to be a masterpiece of some famous sculptor or well-known professor. Surprisingly, however, it was created by a junior school student, whose nickname was Xiao Biesi.

Xiao Biesi was one of the first educated young people sent to the village when he was only 18 years old. His neighbor, his childhood sweetheart, whose nickname was Little White Snake, was also sent there. She was not very tall, almost as tall as Xiao Biesi, but was clean with white skin. She had especially distinguishing eyes of the white and the black, which would energize the one whom was looked at.

The team where they worked was in the mountains. Besides farming, there were some other sidelines, mainly tile burning. Both Xiao Biesi and Little White Snake were arranged in the group of tile burning, where Xiao Biesi’s work was to have the mud mixed and Little White Snake was in charge of tending fire, and cutting firewood as well.

Xiao Biesi trampled the mud and made tiles in the daytime, with Little White Snake in his heart, feeling time flied quickly. Sometimes, when he finished his work and went home following her, gazing at her figure, especially her round hips, he felt full of all energy.

Xiao Biesi’s work was actually quite simple, which was first to soak mud in the pond, and then let out the water, kept trampling the mud barefoot, until the mud gelled.  Next, he cut the mud into a piece as big as a watermelon with a steel arch, and snapped it on a square tile mold, stamping the three sides, east, south and west, of the tile mold with the outside of his right foot. Finally he got the mud that was stamped out with the inside of his right foot and snapped it on the tile mold. He bent down to cut the mud with tile arch, poured the mud out from the mold on the ground, and a piece of square unbaked tile was thus made. Then he repeated doing that many times. At the end of a day, the whole ground would be filled with unbaked tiles. When they were almost dried, he piled them up, pressing them into an arc shape and having them burnt in the kiln. Soon, they would be placed on the roof, keeping out wind and rain.

Their youth was spent with the mud and firewood. Since they could stay together, they felt very happy. However, a storm may arise from a clear sky. One day, when they were burning the tiles, Little White Snake was crushed to death because the kiln collapsed. Gazing at the body of Little White Snake, Xiao Biesi had no appetite for food and drinks. Later he even couldn’t make tiles any more. He just carried the white cement into his room and molded it into a girl-like statue, for he was to mold a statue of Little White Snake that would stand forever. But no matter how hard he worked, he always felt that it didn’t look like Little White Snake at all. He felt very sorry for that, and he thought he owed Little White Snake a lot.

Two years later, some factories hired workers, so Xiao Biesi went back to the city to be employed by the ceramics factory, which was chosen by Xiao Biesi himself.
The ceramics factory at that time was mainly producing Nixing. His work was still retting mud, trampling mud, and casting as well. Retting mud needed more technical content than tile making. The first thing was to match well different kinds of mud, which means that he had to match the mud from East well with the mud from West, and the proportion must be very accurate. If the mud from East was more,
the base would be easily broken; if the mud from West was more, the base would be too soft to stand up. The furnace transmutation was more magic. If the proportion of the mud from East and West was exactly right, the finished product burnt would have sharp lines with the sound of metal.

After a day of trampling mud, he would lock himself in the room until he went to work the next day. He would take the statue of Little White Snake that he made when making tiles out from the bag, and respectfully place it on a table. Unfortunately, because the nature of the mud was too rough, his modification didn’t work. He brought home a mass of clay delicate every day to mould a statue of Little White Snake.

His parents noticed that he was always sullen, so they secretly looked for a girlfriend for him. Three girls had agreed to meet him on a blind date, but refused to keep dating after, for they said that he worked with mud and even said that the mud in his nails could not washed off. Later, he refused his father’s rearrangements for a wedding for him. Once when his father urged him too much, he told him directly:” If you insisted arranging for me, you yourself are to meet the girl on a blind date.” His father felt completely squashed by what he said and stopped bothering about him.

His Little White Snake had been molded, but was still not ideal, especially that pair of tits. When he made them big, they seemed too heavy; when he made them small, they seemed too light. Made warping up, they were unnatural; made sagging down, they lacked vitality. He felt very regretful for not having peeped at them ?

Fortunately, she had a sister, whom he called Little Green Snake, looking almost like Little White Snake. After graduating from college, Little Green Snake got a job in the Arts and Crafts Company, which was the superior of their factory. Little Green Snake knew he was passionately devoted to her late sister, so she often came visiting him. Little Green Snake lived at home, neighboring Xiao Biesi, who went home more often than before these days, which pleased his parents a lot, for they thought he was thinking of getting married. One night, however, he did something very shameful—peeping at Little Green Snake who was taking a bath. When he was lost in admiration, he was knocked unconscious by Little Green Snake’s father. When Little Green Snake went out and knew what had happened, she wasn’t surprised at all. She just revived him and helped him back to his room. Then Little Green Snake asked him: ”Have you fallen in love with me?”

He shook his head and said no. She then asked him: “Why did you peep at me then?”

He replied: “No. I'm peeping at your sister. ” Little Green Snake cried for that all night.

Since then, Xiao Biesi had a bad reputation of peeping at women, so no one would dare to meet him on a blind date.

Xiao Biesi became more self – enclosed.

He had three locks for his house, and the process of unlocking them was in such a strict order that no one could open the door if not in the right order.

One day, Xiao Biesi was absent for work. People knocked on his door, but there was no reply at all. They asked his parents to come and open the door. Jesus! Xiao Biesi was sitting on the bed, facing a statue of a goddess. The statue was smooth and delicate, who had shining bright eyes, and whose tits warped up just in a perfect way.

Little Green Snake came. When she saw the statue, she exclaimed loudly: “My dear sister!” And then she shouted out: “Oh my brother-in-law!”

But they could not hear her anymore.

In fairness, this statue is more romantically charming than the Mermaid Statue in Zhuxiang and more delightful than the statue of the Yellow River Girl of white marble in Guide. A town sculpture was to be established, and Little Green Snake who was in charge of the project was cudgeling her brains, but just couldn’t find any ideal statue. Now the goddess in front of her inspired her greatly, and she made a decision to have it as the town sculpture.
